Case and design
First introduced in 1952, the Breitling Navitimer 806 features a 41 mm stainless steel case that features a distinctive bidirectional rotating bezel with an integrated slide rule. This design allowed pilots to perform important calculations such as fuel consumption and flight times directly on their wrists. The black dial with white subdials, often in “panda” style, offers excellent readability. The applied luminescent indices and the characteristic hands underline the functional yet elegant character of this pilot’s watch.
Movement and technology
Inside the early Navitimer 806 models was the hand-wound caliber Venus 178, a reliable chronograph movement with column wheel control. Later versions were equipped with the Valjoux 7736. These movements are known for their precision and robustness, characteristics that are essential in aviation. The chronograph function allows time intervals to be measured, while the integrated slide rule is used to perform various calculations.
Bracelet and Comfort
The Navitimer 806 has traditionally been equipped with high-quality leather straps that complement the classic look of the watch and ensure a high level of comfort.
