Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch (Ref. 145.022-69ST) – Legendary chronograph with space history
Housing and design
The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Ref. 145.022-69ST is an icon of watchmaking history – a timepiece with authentic space DNA. The stainless steel case measures 42 mm in diameter and features a classic asymmetrical design that provides the wearer with optimal protection for the crown and pushers. The characteristic black bezel with tachymeter scale is made of aluminum and allows precise speed measurements.
The jet black dial with applied hour markers, white printed minute track and the three recessed totalizers at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock impresses with its excellent readability – even under the most demanding conditions. The central hand configuration with white lacquered luminous hands and the domed hesalite crystal perfectly round off the historic appearance.
Movement and technology
Inside the watch is the famous hand-wound caliber Omega 861 – a movement based on the Lemania 1873 that is characterized by reliability, robustness and ease of maintenance. This caliber beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of about 48 hours.
The functions include central hour, minute and chronograph seconds, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock and a small seconds at 9 o’clock. The calibre 861 is considered the first movement to be installed in the Speedmaster after the legendary Moonwatch with calibre 321 – marking a new era of space chronographs.
Bracelet and wearing comfort
Our version comes with a classic black leather strap that stays true to the vintage character of the watch. The fine embossing and subtle stitching underline the elegant appearance of the watch, while the polished stainless steel pin buckle ensures a secure hold and comfortable wear. The bracelet harmonizes stylishly with the stainless steel case and provides a successful contrast to the technical appearance of the timepiece.
Functionality
The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch is not only a tribute to the Apollo program, but also a functionally sophisticated chronograph. The tachymeter scale allows precise speed measurements, while the chronograph functions reliably measure times up to 12 hours. Thanks to the proven architecture and the robust hand-wound movement, this watch is a faithful companion for collectors, enthusiasts and everyday heroes alike.
Built in 1971, this Ref. 145.022-69ST is a sought-after collector’s item with historical value – a timepiece that has made history and conveys this with every glance at your wrist. A real legend for lovers of mechanical watches and space travel.
