Davosa stands for precision and functionality
It is not only in the field of diving watches that Davosa stands for values such as precision and quality. With the other collections such as the Pilot or the Argonautic – both also automatic watches – the brand also follows its passion for beautiful and at the same time functional watches. The manufacturers not only rely on a sporty and contemporary design, but also score points with their excellent price-performance ratio, which makes the watches accessible to a wide range of buyers.
Know-how in watchmaking – the Hasler family
The history of the brand dates back to the 19th century and begins with Abel Frédéric Hasler. In order to bridge the long winter months in the Jura Mountains of Switzerland and to supplement the family’s income, the farmer produces small series of handcrafted silver watch shells. He passes on his passion to his descendants. Six of his sons are learning the watchmaker’s trade, including Paul Hasler. In 1917, he founded the sole proprietorship “Terminages d’Horlogerie” and specialized in the assembly of watches for well-known brands. He defied numerous crises with his company and took his brother David on board in 1946. Together, they found “Hasler Frères” and began producing their own movements and watches. In addition to the USA, they also became increasingly successful on the European market and from 1975 onwards began producing quartz watches in addition to mechanical watches. In 1998, the brand was represented at the Basel Watch Fair for the first time. To this day, the Maison’s success continues unabated, partly because the brand is always aware of the needs of the market and constantly develops its collections.
Specifications of the Ternos – from the movement to the material
Models such as the Ternos Professional or the Ternos Ceramic GMT are specially designed for underwater conditions and are therefore characterized by their absolute waterproofing and the use of durable materials. For example, the Maison uses 316L stainless steel to produce the cases, while a scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal offers optimal readability. The numerals and hands are also provided with the SuperLumiNova® luminous material to enable reading even in poor visibility conditions. In addition, the crown of the diving watches is screwed down, and the bezel, which is made of robust high-tech ceramic, can be rotated on one side. In addition to the TriaLink bracelet made of stainless steel, which has a folding clasp with safety pushers, there are also other bracelets to choose from, such as rubber, nylon or leather. PentaLink straps are also available for the Ternos Professional, Ceramic and Vintage Diver. And when it comes to the movement, the Maison leaves nothing to chance. The deliveries consist exclusively of DAV calibers produced in Switzerland by well-known companies such as ETA, Sellita or Soprod.

Davosa Ternos Professional
The Davosa Ternos Professional is the symbol of a classic diver’s watch with an automatic movement, which is pressure tested to a depth of 500 m and combines the tried and tested with the modern. For example, the watch for the gentleman has an automatic helium valve to compensate for the pressure when surfacing without any action on your part. Models such as the Mountain Lake (Ref. 161.559.75), which is specially designed for diving under ice, and the Professional TT are particularly popular in this series. The abbreviation stands for the terms “technology” and “tradition” and combines exactly this in one watch. Visually, the two-tone bezel, which is available in either Balu-Schwaz or gray-black, is also a real eye-catcher. Also popular: watches from the Megalume series (Ref. 161.583.10), a limited edition limited to 500 pieces that impresses with its enormous luminosity.
Davosa Ternos Professional 68 h
For amateur divers and professionals, the Professional 68 h Automatic is also interesting. It scores with a 68-hour power reserve and is equipped with a DAV caliber 3121. The manufacturer obtains this from the well-known Swiss manufactory La Joux-Perret. In addition to its satin-finished and polished stainless steel version, the 68 h Automatic is also available as a limited series made of carbon. Due to the special manufacturing process, each of the 200 manufactured watches is truly unique and a special collector’s item that will certainly not lose value.
Davosa Ternos Nebulous
With the Nebulous watches, the Maison complements its classic and gives it a design that convinces both underwater and on land. The highlight of this automatic series is certainly the transparent dial made of colored glass, which lies directly on the movement and is fixed by a skeletonized dial ring. Bright indices also ensure optimal readability here.
Davosa Ternos Ceramic
With a diameter of 40 mm, the watches in the Ternos Ceramic series are the perfect combination of a diver’s watch and a dress watch that can also be worn for formal occasions. It gets its name, among other things, from the coloured inlay of the bezel, for which the Maison uses heat-resistant and scratch-resistant high-tech ceramic.
Ternos Medium
With the Ternos Medium, the Maison from Switzerland has created a great alternative to the classic diver’s watch, as the diameter of the watches is only 36.5 mm. This means that the watches also cut a fine figure on narrow wrists and female wearers. Technically and visually, the Medium is also based on its big brother and inspires with navy blue or black as well as white dials. Gold versions are also part of the timepieces, which are pressure tested up to 20 ATM. A special highlight of the series are also the California watches, which with their dials in pink and sand beige are reminiscent of the lifestyle of the US state.
