The Junghans Meister Chronoscope – a watch steeped in tradition

Since the middle of the 19th century, watches from Junghans have been regarded as precise timepieces that know how to combine an elegant look with a real variety of functions. Thus, there are numerous milestones in the company’s history with which the manufacturer revolutionized the watch market and made history. For example, it was the Junghans company that presented the first radio-controlled series-produced table clock for private use in 1985, and the first radio-controlled clock to draw its energy from solar technology also came from the workshops of the Baden-Württemberg company. The watches in the “Meister Chronoscope” collection are also very popular – a tribute to the 30s that appears elegant and dynamic at the same time. The timepieces are available with an automatic movement with complications such as the date or stop function, among other things. In addition, the watches are water-resistant to 5 bar and are available in numerous versions. Are you interested in buying a luxury watch? Watchmaking since 1861

To understand the importance of Meister Chronoscope, let’s first take a look at the history of the company. This began in April 1861, when Erhard Junghans founded a watch components factory together with his brother-in-law, initially specialising in the production of individual components. In 1866, the first own watches finally followed. The company grew rapidly and in 1903 was the largest watch factory in the world with 3,000 employees. A success on which the manufacturer does not rest. In order to enable even more precise production, the entrepreneurs began building the now iconic terrace in 1918, which was intended to bring daylight to every workplace.

Watches with the title "Master"

In the 1930s, the Maison began to use its own calibers in its wristwatches, instead of using the calibers of well-known suppliers exclusively, as had been the case up to now. In 1936, the first watch of this type was released and was equipped with a caliber J80. The finest movement version is decorated with Côtes de Genève and is given the designation J80/2.

150 years of Junghans – the Meister Chronoscope as a limited special edition

In 2011, the company celebrates its 150th birthday and reinterprets the Meister series to mark the occasion. As anniversary models, the Meister Chronoscope and the Meister Chronometer are available in limited numbers at selected jewellers. The designs are based on the Junghans Meister watches, which were released between 1930 and 1960.

Elegant and sporty – that's what distinguishes the Chronoscope

What makes the Junghans Meister Chronoscope so special? Like hardly any other watch, it manages to close the line between elegant design and dynamic functions. Among other things, the Junghans Meister is also characterised by its sporting functions, without losing any of its grace. Characteristic of each watch in the series are also the bowl-shaped curved recesses for the subdials. The Meister Chronoscope – the dress watch that can do more.

Different versions of the Meister Chronoscope
