Tutima M2 watches: German precision knives
Top quality from Glashütte – this is what the Tutima brand stands for, which manufactures watches and movements of the utmost precision and care here in the Eastern Ore Mountains and has long since made a name for itself beyond the country’s borders. Whether chronographs such as the Coastline, models from the Saxon One and Grand Flieger lines or the colorful automatic watches from the Sky family: the brand has launched many watches that not only impress men and women as reliable timepieces on their wrists, but also as exceptional eye-catchers of the highest quality. The M2, a venerable successor to the NATO chronograph, also enjoys great popularity among watch lovers worldwide – and for good reason. Find out more below about the classic new edition, which nothing can shake, and get more information from SG Watches about how you can perhaps soon enrich your home watch collection with the extra class chronograph.
The manufacturer Tutima: history and origin
Before we go into the special features of the M2, we would like to provide you with a little background information on the company and the Tutima brand. Do we have your consent? Then let’s go back in time! The roots of the manufactory lie in Glashütte in Saxony, a small town that has already produced numerous well-known watch brands. The two companies Uhren-Rohwerke-Fabrik Glashütte AG (UROFA) and Uhrenfabrik Glashütte AG (UFAG) were founded here in 1927 – two companies managed by the lawyer Dr. Ernst Kurtz. He recognized that the wristwatch was the watch of the future and launched various models on the market that were not to be outdone by well-known Swiss brands. The beginning of a real success story was written, but it was interrupted by the turmoil of the Second World War. Glashütte was bombed and the production facilities were badly damaged. Kurtz managed to escape to Franconia. This was later followed by the reestablishment of a watch factory near Bremen, and the Norddeutsche Uhren-Rohwerkefabrik was born. In 1954, Dieter Delecate joined the company, who would henceforth be inextricably linked with the Tutima brand and who was able to bring the company back to Glashütte after German reunification.
In a class of its own: special features of the M2 models
Reliability. Good readability. Waterproof. Pressure-resistant. There are numerous details that make the new edition of the well-known NATO chronograph a must-have for anyone who values a timepiece that can take on any adventure – whether on land, in the water or at lofty heights. The watches in the model line are powered by a Tutima 521 caliber, which is given the best possible protection by a 30 atm pressure-tested pure titanium case with anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Integrated large-surface pushers, centrally positioned hands for seconds, minutes and hours, SuperLumiNova luminous material and the titanium strap with folding clasp, which is fitted ex works, round off the features.
Tutima M2 Pioneer
As a pioneer in the collection, the chronograph with automatic movement has a number of additional features. For example, a bidirectional rotating bezel completes the watch’s features, which has 14 inset luminescent capsules to guarantee optimum readability even in absolute darkness. The professional timepiece measures 46.5 mm in diameter and the case is bead-blasted. The dial is black. When fully wound, the watch has a power reserve of 48 hours.
Tutima M2 Seven Seas
Whether you choose the 40 or 44 mm version: when it comes to performance and durability, the Tutima M2 Seven Seas is second to none. The stainless steel case is extremely robust, and the rotor with gold seal and screws lasts 38 hours after winding. Whether date display, index with SuperLumiNova luminous material or anti-reflective sapphire crystal: function and high quality go hand in hand with the Seven Seas. The screw-down crown and screw-down back are also important features of the watch, which is pressure-tested to 50 bar.
The Coastline Chronograph
The Coastline model also cuts a fine figure among the Tutima chronographs and not only scores points with its date function, but also provides information on the day of the week in the center of the dial. The sapphire crystal, which has an anti-reflective coating, ensures optimum readability. Whether you choose a titanium bracelet or a rubber or textile strap, the M2 model is not only functionally ahead of its time, but is also extremely versatile and can be easily adapted to any style.
